AMERICAN NURISTANI IMPORTS INTERNATIONAL was formed in 2008 by an Afghan gemstones Businessman M.Yousaf Nuristani, and three American Citizens, they befriended while they were overseas. The company has four braches the Main Branch is in Jalalabad Afghanistan and three other Braches are in the different cities of USA, which are distributing the gemstones in the abroad Markets especially in USA, Europe and Thailand.
American Nuristan Import International LLC is also holding an International Importing License from State of Virginia United States of American.
The Board members of ANI decided to trade and exports the Afghan Gemstones direct from Afghanistan to the world market especially from Nuristan Province,
ANI International LLC’s strategy is to jump-start the development of the entire mineral resources sector by radically improving the exploitation of known gemstone deposits and to increase the number of known deposits through exploration and expanding of the gems trade direct from Afghanistan to the local and world markets and to setup a well equipped gems process lapidary and institute in Jalalabad to educate the volunteers and students on the Gems Processing sector and also to fill full the orders and requirement of the company in the cutting in polishing the stones on the customers demand.
Nuristan is one of the richest areas in Afghanistan for gems deposits and minerals,
Its tragic history since the Russian invasion in 1979 has prevented these resources from being exploited – except for some gem deposits, which have been mined on a very small and inefficient scale. However, gemstone mining has brought striking increases in the standard of living in of the locals from east and west Nuristan region , chiefly in the Mawe valley to the northeast of the Doab District.

Nuristan is the most inaccessible gemstone mining area of Afghanistan and one of the most isolated and difficult places in the world. Practically all travel is by foot or horse. Nuristan deposits are entirely pegmatite-hosted (that is, occurring in coarsely crystallized igneous rocks), and consist of tourmaline, kunzite, aquamarine, spodumene and beryl and Emeralds.

The known and the most productive areas are Nilaw, Korgal, Mawi, and Shama, and Papra in the Eastern Nuristan
Shama famous for its emerald mines which are recently discovered.

Afghan gems are principally aquamarines, emeralds, kunzite, lapis lazuli, rubies, spinals (balas rubies), and tourmaline. As regards discovery, these minerals are easily identifiable in stream sediment samples and can be used to identify the location of new deposits by tracking the minerals back to their source.

Gem mining and production, as a means of expanding Afghanistan’s mineral industry, is a natural place to start because of the small amount of capital required and there is no proper industry in this sector and most of the Afghan gems are smuggling to Pakistan with out any tax paid to Afghan Government, with the assist of the Ministry of Gems and Minerals, ANI International is planning to have a lapidary in Nanagrahar Province which will help all four eastern provinces and will convince the Business man to have Business in Afghanistan instead of smuggling the stones to Pakistan and it will help both the Businessmen, and local jewelers will able to have customers here in Afghanistan and will help him less risk . For $250,000 a formal program can be developed which will create production of several million dollars every year.
ANI International owns 4 different mines in Nuristan Province in the different areas, Kunzite mine in Mawe , Emerald mine in Shama, Tourmaline mine in Korgal, and Aquamarine mine in Mathave Valley.
Due to the lack knowledge of the locals in the mines identifying sector, ANI is also welling to have some classes for miners to identify the extent and geologic environment of the known gemstone deposits and b) instruct the local miners how to improve their mining techniques, including the use of explosives, how to prospect for new deposits, and how to market their gemstones.
