55 uplift Projects Inaugurate in Maidanwardak, Logar and Badakhshan

With the completion of 55 development projects of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD) in Maidawardak, Logar and Badakhshan provinces, 3,682 rural families are provided with wide arrays of various facilities.

49 completed power projects in Chak district of Maidanwardak totaling US$966,000 (AFs48300000) funded by MRRD are implemented through National Solidarity Programme (NSP), which helped 3,012 rural families to benefit electricity.

Furthermore, the implementation of 7 projects in Khoshi district of Logar and 2 others in Faizabad, the capital city of Badakhshan, include 4.5 Km road, 12m long and 6m deep check dam, installation of 43 solar panels, 2 culverts and a tailor training course for female villagers, benefiting 670 rural families in mentioned areas. The total cost of these projects reaches US$56,000 come from MRRD budget. These projects are implemented through National Solidarity Programme of MRRD.

Giving details of the inaugurated projects, Mr. Ajmal Paiman, the Spokesperson of MRRD said, “The completion of these projects responded to the problems of the various communities of these provinces in term of commute, house enlightening, irrigation water and handicrafts, which show a parallelism between rural communities and urban areas in access to facilities and skill gaining opportunities.

The construction of roads in rural areas enable villagers to access cities, social centers and markets, the farmers can easily transport their produce to markets to reap their rewards. Construction of check dams are prerequisites to yield a fruitful harvest for farmers and gardeners. This fact is influential in development of individual economy and thus the rural economy as whole to enhance gaining villagers trust in genuine rural development progression in Afghanistan.

The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development through is various national development programmes such as Rural Water & Sanitation Programme, National Rural Access Programme, National Area Based Development Programme and the National Solidarity Programme is implementing various needed development projects in the villages of 34 provinces of Afghanistan.
