AISA launches the first Investors’ Directory of Afghanistan

For the first time since its establishment, the Afghanistan Investment Support Agency (AISA) has published an Investors’ Directory of its registered companies, which aims to market the businesses within Afghanistan and abroad as well as ease communications between the companies, customers and other interested parties.

Director of Research and Policy Department of AISA, Said Mubin Shah, told the reporters today, “Foreign clients who are interested in engaging into partnerships with local entities are now able to find and contact the respective local companies.”

This directory provides listing and basic contact information of approximately 3,000 foreign and local companies currently active in Afghanistan. They are categorized into sectors and broken down alphabetically by company name.

In our database we have another 3,000 companies which claim not to be active, but still posses an AISA license. Therefore, we have excluded them from the directory this time as we would like to motivate them through publication of this directory to report their activeness and renew their licenses.

This Directory will be published by AISA on an annual basis. We have been at pains to ensure that the information contained herein is correct and current at the time of publishing in line with information provided by the companies.

Talking to the reporters, the Analytical Unit Manager of AISA Research and Policy Department, Gulya Kolacova said, “It took us some great efforts to put this piece together, but we kept in mind that having such Investors’ Directory will reveal the benefits even in the short run.”

She says, “Customers will be able to easily find the products and services they need, companies will be able to find out about the products and services available in the Afghanistan market, which will lead to competitive business environment and will increase quality of the products and decrease the prices. “

All the contact information of the companies reflects the information that the company representatives had filled in while obtaining or renewing their licenses from AISA. Thus, by publication of this Directory, we would like to encourage all business community to help us to improve the accuracy of the companies’ profiles.

The President/CEO of AISA, Dr. Omar Zakhilwal calls the Directory a major achievement of AISA and say, “This directly not only provides a service to the citizens at large but also brings recognition and value to duly registered active companies. It will, therefore, encourage companies that are yet not registered and that are not in the directory to promote themselves through this directory.”
