With the inauguration of 15 uplift projects of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development in the province of Samangan, 1897 families benefited from wide range of facilities provide. Meanwhile work on another major work for food project in Nenegarhar Province started today.

The completed projects in Samangan province include digging and cleaning of 1.4km irrigation canal, installation a micro-hydro power dam with capacity of producing 13kw electricity, two tailor training courses for female villager and construction of retaining wall at Khoram Sarbagh District of the province. Meanwhile, construction of drinking water reservoir, carpet weaving project for around 40 men and women, establishment of a dairy farm and an agriculture farm, and two VET training projects for 40 men and women are the completed projects in Hazrat Sultan District of the Province.

The cost of the completed projects total to around USD 220,000 and are implemented through the National Solidarity Programme of MRRD.

Giving the details of mentioned projects Mr. Ajmal Paiman the Spokesman for MRRD added.

“Through work for food project of MRRD the cleaning of a major irrigation canal with the length of 25km started in Behsood District of Nenegarhar province which will be complemented in three months time. This is a major project through which 730 labour men will be employed and 135MT food will be distributed to their families. Upon completion of this project 20,000 acre land will be irrigated benefiting up to 1,000 farmer families. Also, through this project 13MT more food will be distributed to vulnerable rural families”.

With the implementation of these projects rural families have received wide array of socio-economical benefits. Among the implemented projects establishment of dairy and agriculture farm will provide better employment opportunities for male and female villager and will significantly improve the quality of their dairy and agriculture produce.

The ministry of Rural Rehabilitation & Development is implementing thousands of development projects across 34 provinces of the Afghanistan, which has not been seen in the history of the country.
