Existing CDMA Network to be extended in Provinces

Ministry of Communications and IT intends to extend the current CDMA network in Provinces said Eng. Barialay Hassam Deputy Minister Technical in a signing ceremony and press conference made for this purpose on Tuesday February 26, 2008 in the Conference room of Ministry of Communications and IT.

Deputy Minister Barialay Hassam said that the Ministry of Communications and IT tries its best to facilitate parallel telecom services in all provinces of Afghanistan, therefore, the Ministry today signs a four contract at a total cost of ten million USD with four private local and International telecom companies.

This project will extend and better equip the current CDMA network in Provinces including establishing towers, shelters, purchasing diesel generators for BTSs, BSC, and PDSN and for Microwave in less than a year.

According to authorities of Ministry of Communications and IT, the project will extend and equip the CDMA network in Jalalabad, Kunduz, Khost, Daikundi, Punjshir, Parwan, Hirat, Kandahar, Balkh, Badakhshan, Hilmand, Juzjan, Ghazni, Paktya and Faryab and so on.

Finally, the contracts were signed among Deputy Minister Barialay Hassam and Telecom Private Companies such as Huawei, ZTE, Tamas Telecom and RM. ASIA.

The project will be accomplished within one year and the fund will be provided from the developmental budget of Ministry of Communications and IT.
