Meanwhile, 9000m of electric cable was extended from Darunta hydropower plant to the villages Surkhroad district in Nangarhar. These projects, which responded to electricity shortage problems of 1110 families, cost around USD 178,000 covered by MRRD development budget.

The Projects were implemented through the National Solidarity Programme of MRRD and the communities contributed 10% of the cost in the shape of labour or cash.

Before the implementation of power projects villagers were depending on fuel to lighten their house or to operate power generator. The solar power panels are environmentally friendly and will reduce villagers’ dependency on fuel which will positively contribute to the economy of the families.
